German think tank warns of early oil peak

A report produced by the German Government has warned that global oil supplies could reach maximum output this year, much earlier than initially thought, and could lead to many years of economic and political disruption.

Warnings that requirements could exceed supply within the next few years have concerned many industrial companies across the world, as the manufacture of many goods relies on oil related products.

The peak in oil could also lead to political alliances shifting across the globe after suggestions that official oil reserves has been miscalculated or over estimated.
