How the service works

In the UK, electricity and gas is bought and sold as a tradable commodity. Energy is bought and sold speculatively for profits or as contracts for delivery from the next day up to many months and years into the future. Normally, only organisations with significant energy usage are able to buy in a flexible manner on the wholesale markets. The Risk Managed Procurement service offers many more organisations the opportunity to benefit from energy procurement in a flexible, risk managed methodology, using prices derived from the wholesale market place.

Your energy requirements will be placed into one of our large trading portfolios allowing for a greater number of procurement decisions. A risk managed trading strategy is followed for each portfolio under a governing risk strategy. Our FSA regulated Traders' objective is to manage the position through a volatile market and to deliver an acceptable price.
