Client:

As Ireland’s largest hotel group, Jurys Doyle is a market leader in the Irish hotel sector with an established presence in the UK and US markets. The Towers five star hotel has been a Dublin landmark for nearly 40 years.

Objective:

Inenco were appointed to undertake an Energy Survey and an extensive review of the heating and hot water services at The Towers hotel in Dublin, aimed at reducing costs and improving reliability.

Result:

Annual cost savings of over €70,000 and a reduction in carbon emissions of 2,000 tonnes per annum.

Details:

  • Inenco recommended a fundamental redesign of the hotel's heating systems, including the installation of two new steam boilers to serve the laundry, and two new low pressure hot water boilers.
  • The main project was the installation of a 300 kW Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit to simultaneously satisfy heating and power requirements.
  • The entire project was managed by Inenco, with a critical requirement being that the busy hotel had to be kept operational at all times.
  • The project was fully supported and partly funded by The Irish Energy Centre, with an overall payback period of 3 years.
Jurys were impressed with Inenco’s professionalism, ensuring that the project was completed on budget and within expected time-scales. The work was planned around normal hotel operations and completed with minimal disruption.

The implementation of Inenco's project enabled Jurys to reduce their carbon emissions by 2,000 tonnes per annum, whilst achieving annual cost savings of over €70,000 per annum.
