Client:

The client is one of the top 10 retail companies in the UK, with 26 Department Stores and 144 Supermarkets.


Objective:

The cleint was looking to minimise the overheads involved with processing their energy bills and gain control over their reporting.  To help them, we recommended full Bureau Management, covering utility invoice processing, bill validation, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and accruals.


Result:

Refunds in excess of £60,000 on electricity expenditure identified and recovered within the first six months of service delivery, additionally a refund of £18,000 on water charges was secured.


Details:

We provided the client with a fully outsourced service, covering electricity, gas and water, including:
  • Invoice processing and validation
  • Management Reporting including energy efficiency reports
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Accruals
Our management reports allowed our client to track costs and consumption across their large portfolio, and we assisted them in identifying and implementing measures to increase efficiency and minimise energy expenditure.

Our services were tailored to the specific needs of the company, and they were able to achieve a tighter control over utility costs. Within the first 6 months, through Inenco's bill validation processes, refunds in excess of £60,000 were achieved through the identification and resolution of multiple electricity billing errors. In addition, a refund on water charges amounting to £18,000 was secured.

As a result of the success of this service implementation, our brief has since developed to assist with purchasing strategy with electricity procurement.
