Market Background

• The liberalisation process of the Spanish electricity and gas markets has been in place for some time now, with all consumers being eligible to choose their suppliers since January 2003.

• As of  the1st July 2008, regulated electricity tariffs were abolished for high voltage customers, followed by low voltage customers on the 1st January 2009.

• Customers who have not yet switched,  will automatically be placed on a "last resort" tariff, which is expected to be much higher.
