Case study – Chocolate manufacturer and retailer

Strategy

Well-known chocolate manufacturer and retailer have been crafting confectionery for over 100 years. They have a large manufacturing and head office site and a chain of 228 outlets across the UK.

Following new legislation, the client was required to quantify and publish their direct global GHG emissions in its annual Directors’ Report, including: global emissions from mobile and stationary combustion; the purchase of electricity, heat, steam and cooling; and process and fugitive emissions.

The Inenco team provided detailed data collection tools and guidance for collecting hardto-access data such as F-gases, to ensure that no relevant emissions sources were overlooked.

We provided the client with a fully referenced and evidenced Directors’ Report summary to insert into its annual report. This summary ensured all legislative requirements were met and the company also received a detailed GHG report for internal reference – this helped to identify emissions hotspots as a focus for future reduction efforts.

Inenco also aided this client with CCA and CRC compliance and to date, have mitigated £1.5m in CCA and CRC charges for the client. Learn more here.

CASE STUDY

Cineworld

With over 100 branches, Cineworld is one of the UK’s biggest cinema chains. Following new legislation, Cineworld Group plc was required to quantify and publish in its annual Directors’ Report, the direct global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions arising as a result from the company’s activities.

The mandatory reporting included: global emissions from mobile and stationary combustion; the purchase of electricity, heat, steam and cooling; and process and fugitive emissions.

Inenco worked in partnership with Cineworld to identify all emissions sources covered by the legislation, and to understand how best to capture and account for these emissions.

Furthermore, the project needed to assimilate additional data following the merger with Cinema City International, a challenge which occurred during the reporting period.

We provided Cineworld with a fully referenced and evidenced Directors’ Report summary to insert into the company’s annual report along with their own internal copy. This report highlighted existing data gaps in the current reporting processes, and proposed solutions for these.
