The Challenge

 The client appointed Inenco to handle their water supply and service in 2012, following some unexpectedly high invoices from their previous provider caused by billing process inaccuracies.

Unhappy with the value for money it was receiving from its existing arrangement, the client wanted to verify their invoices and avoid any further surprises in the future. In addition, the Club wanted to identify and put in place efficiencies across their portfolio.

Our Approach

  • The Inenco team undertook an in-depth review of the Club’s water consumption to date. This helped to ensure accurate billing and verify the charges that had been applied.
  • Inenco negotiated directly with the client’s water supplier to move to a more appropriate tariff and agreed a substantial discount on the retrospective charges.
  • A named Key Account Manager for the client was secured at their water supplier. This resulted in higher service levels and an upgrade to automated meters across the portfolio, eliminating estimated meter readings and improving bill accuracy.
  • We also undertook a full water survey of the client’s portfolio to identify ways to reduce costs and support the Club’s corporate responsibility objectives by saving water.
  • Inenco also provided frequent updates on changes within the UK water industry along with advice on any action that should be taken as a result of them as part of our ongoing service.

The results

Through our approach, we managed to negotiate a £23,000 reduction within year one, and conducted rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling feasibility studies to support the client’s ambitions to reduce its water expenditure in the future.
