A New Look Manufacturing Site for The Rayner Group

Client Name: The Rayner Group
See how we helped Rayner Group to get an energy supply in place quickly, cost effectively, and with minimum fuss

The Challenge

The Rayner Group has been in business for more than 100 years. The Group business focuses on optics and has, over the years, included a chain of retail opticians, spectacle and intraocular lens manufacturing, and a spectacle frame import and distribution business. In 2013 the Group decided to dispose of its “retail division” to focus on its “surgical division”, comprising a successful intraocular lens and medical device manufacturing business. When Rayner’s Legal Director was tasked at short notice with securing both gas and electricity supply for a major new manufacturing facility in Worthing, acquired to fulfil the needs of the medical manufacturing business, it quickly became apparent to her that expert help would be needed to get an appropriate energy supply arranged and ensure the facilities were operational within the necessary tight deadlines.

Our Approach

Inenco understood that the most important thing for Rayner was to get an energy supply in place quickly, cost effectively, and with minimum fuss. For large, purpose built manufacturing facilities, getting brand new energy supplies in place can often be a complicated process and some businesses find it difficult to even know where to start. It is essential for energy contracts to be placed prior to meter installations, to ensure that there is no delay in bringing power to the new site. Inenco’s experts were able to approach a range of different suppliers, to assess which would best meet Rayner’s needs at its new facility. Liaison took place with MOPs, Data Collectors and Aggregators, Distribution Network Operators and on-site project managers to ensure the installation of appropriate meters took place in a timely manner.

Through thoughtful support and ongoing communication, The Rayner Group’s Inenco Account Manager was able to make this entire process smooth and stress free: “I found our Inenco Account Manager exceptionally helpful, pleasant, knowledgeable and efficient. With his help I managed to get to grips with MPAN numbers and hitherto unknown concepts such as energised/de-energised meters! The electricity and gas contracts for our new facility have been sorted and are in place, it was all relatively painless from my perspective. I felt that Inenco went to every effort to help not just me but our contractor on site. I was very impressed with the service and would have no hesitation in recommending Inenco”.

The Results

Inenco ensured that The Rayner Group were supplied with the meters required to meet the needs of their new manufacturing facility. A classic procurement strategy was utilised to ensure that the necessary contracts were in place prior to installation and that supply was achieved within deadline. In the near future these contracts can be reviewed and perhaps replaced, to make sure that Rayner are getting the very best deal on their energy going forward.
