Milking the benefits for South Caernarfon Creameries

Client Name: South Caernarfon Creameries
Following an internal review in 2016, South Caernarfon Creameries were in desperate need for a ‘CCA health check’

The Challenge

South Caernarfon Creameries is Wales’ oldest and largest dairy co-operative which has been farmer-owned since 1938. They supply a wide range of cheese and butter to the local Welsh market, to major multiples across the UK and to international stores. Their members supply milk from their farms and own a share in the company in return.

Following an internal review in 2016, South Caernarfon Creameries had low confidence in data previously submitted and combined with a number of changes on site, hitting the CCA targets had become increasingly challenging.

In desperate need for a ‘CCA health check’ – South Caernarfon Creameries needed to know what could and couldn’t be done about their position. Inenco were then appointed to undertake a CCA Performance Review in order to understand their position, prior to retaining Inenco for full CCA Management.

“We at South Caernarfon Creameries Ltd have recently started using Inenco to manage our CCA obligations. This has proved to be a great success producing immediate financial savings to our organisation. We have been extremely impressed with their professionalism and flexible approach which enabled them to adapt to our specific requirements. As Inenco have delivered all of our expectations, I would have no hesitation in recommending them to other Companies,”

Elwyn Jones, Factory Manager

Our Approach

1
Established Strategy

Inenco explained the CCA Performance Review service to South Caernarfon Creameries

2
CCA Performance Review

Inenco dissected the CCA structure to understand exactly what energy was being reported on and why

3
Performed Site Surveys

Inenco performed site surveys and site interviews to ensure 100% accuracy of understanding the business

4
Presented The Report

A report of findings was then presented including avenues for restructuring and implications of pursuing the recommendations made

The Results

Inenco concluded that South Caernarfon Creameries’ existing CCA consultant was not reporting the correct energy processes, and had failed to identify performance improvement options.

Inenco managed to secure a refund of £3,780 for Target Period 1, a base year correction for Target Period 2, saving the client £4,200 along with savings of ~£10,000 for Target Periods 3 and 4.

South Caernarfon Creameries were pleased with the overall service and realised they required a consultant who could fulfil their requirement for heightened reporting. As a result, Inenco were employed for full ongoing CCA Management as well.
