Tightening the belt on a Co-educational School’s energy spend

The Challenge

The School wanted to tighten the belt on their energy spend as they had previously been with a broker who set them onto a matrix price contract, meaning they were regularly paying over the odds on their utility contracts. Alongside the rise of non-commodity costs, their site was highly inefficient resulting in higher utility bills.

Tendering process

We tendered to a range of suppliers for a variety of duration and contract types, to best suit the school's strategy and offer them a wide array of options in order to make an informed decision.

Retrospective audit

Reviewing previous utility bills to highlight where they had overspent in order to gain back some of the costs. We then assisted with decisions regarding their capacity reductions.

Reviewed the site for inefficiencies

Our expert team visited the site to assess where energy savings could be made from site inefficiencies assisted by findings from their ESOS compliance report.

Support in accreditation

Supporting the client with obtaining an accreditation for their biomass boiler in order to claim credits entitled to them.

The Results

Providing a variety of services, Inenco were able to secure the client a saving of £109,340 on their energy procurement and through accrediting the biomass boiler, the client are now able to claim RHI of up to £90,000 over it’s lifetime. From the retrospective audits we identified savings on £14,700 per annum including refunds totaling £15,000.
